Project activities

This project aims to enable scientific and cultural interaction among countries by means of environmental issues. It helps to form bridges between different countries and make people to become good friends, to give them an opportunity to understand each other by awareness that we have similar problems in different countries. It will increase students’ creativity and their general knowledge what would help them in the future.

Project activities and objectives

Pupils - *To encourage creative thinking and acting by students. *To motivate students to learn different languages to develop the friendship, respect and understanding among nine different cultures. *To promote understanding and tolerance of other cultures. *The main strategy for this project is to give the schools the opportunity to make environmental and local ecological issues an intrinsic part of the life at school, this by giving the students the opportunity to develop their decision-making, communicating and curriculum skills in a European context. This means that the students will have access to curriculum materials and new ideas for the project-development, project-events related to the project-subject, by means of a network of schools across Europe.
Teachers - *To involve teachers in discussing, planning and implementing innovative ideas around the project theme. *To contribute to environmental education as a stimulating initiative in the classroom, involving pragmatic thought, in a European cooperation. *To provide teachers with some ideas how to implement environmental topics into the school life. *To use various pedagogical approaches. *To motivate teachers to learn different languages to develop friendship.
Institutions - * This project works only by involving the whole school - pupils, teachers and staff, together with members of the local community - parents, the local authority, the media and local businesses. The project will encourage teamwork and help create a shared understanding of what it takes to run a school in a way that respects and enhances the environment. *To encourage collaboration between institutions that is lasting and can develop further.
Local community - *To raise awareness of collaborative international projects. *To promote relationships between European schools, parents, local authorities, as well as other community stakeholders. *To involve local groups in the project activities eg. local businesses, local or regional newspaper, local or regional radio, television etc. *Through the sharing of learning, they should appreciate that they also share a great number of similarities with other children. To allow long distance communication we intend to make a website that will include all the progress of the project. We will prepare “Green calendar” and DVD-s about environmental facts and recycled art-works. Several “Trash-art” exhibitions will take place.
